‘The Indrani Mukerjea Story: The Buried Truth’ Finally released on Netflix

Netflix’s new documentary, ‘The Indrani Mukerjea Story: The Buried Truth’ was finally released on Thursday after the Bombay High Court rejected the CBI petition. The documentary is all about the Sheena Bora murder case.

The documentary series was planned to be released on February 23, but the CBI filed a petition against the streaming, claiming that the series could influence the judicial process. However, after the special screening of the series, the Bombay High Court gave the green light for its release.

The documentary series is all about the Sheena Bora murder case. It focuses on Indrani Mukerjea, who is accused of killing her own daughter. The incident shook Mumbai’s high society and the whole country. The lives of both the Mukerjea and Bora families were changed forever by what happened.

About Sheena Bora’s Murder

Sheena Bora was Indrani’s daughter from her previous relationship.  In April 2012, Sheena was allegedly strangled to death in a car by Indrani Mukerjea, her then-driver Shyamvar Rai, and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna. They then burned her body in a forest in the nearby Raigad district.

However, the murder remained hidden until 2015, when Rai confessed to it after being arrested in another case. Indrani was taken into custody in August 2015 but released on bail in May 2022. The other accused, Shyamvar Rai,  Khanna, and Peter Mukherjea, are also out on bail.

Throughout the investigation, several dark secrets about the Mukjera family were uncovered. Sheena Bora was allegedly involved in a live-in relationship with her stepbrother Rahul, who is the younger son of Peter Mukerjea from his first marriage. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) claimed that financial disputes and Indrani’s disapproval of Sheena’s relationship with Rahul played significant roles in the murder.
