Mumbai team reached their 48th Ranji Trophy final after defeating Tamil Nadu

The Mumbai team, led by experienced player Ajinkya Rahane, played exceptionally well and defeated the Tamil Nadu team in the Ranji Trophy semi-final. Mumbai has now cleared its way to the 48th final. However, their opponent for the finals is still to be decided.

First Inning

Tamil Nadu won the toss and decided to bat first. Despite notable contributions from Vijay Shankar (44) and Washington Sundar (43), the outstanding bowling performance by Tushar Deshpande and other Mumbai bowlers restricted the TN team to 146 runs in their first inning.

When Mumbai came to bat, they played very well scoring a total of 378 runs and securing a lead of 232 runs in the first inning. Shardul Thakur significantly contributed 109 runs, Musheer Khan scored 55, runs and Tanush Kotain remained unbeaten with a score of 89 runs.

Mumbai was losing wickets consistently due to Sai Kishore’s excellent bowling, but Shardul Thakur launched a counter-attack, scoring 109 runs off 105 balls. His inning includes 13 fours and 4 sixes, helping Mumbai secure a substantial lead.

Second Inning

In the second inning, despite the decent effort by Baba Indrajith, who scored 70 runs, the bowlers of Mumbai, including Shams Mulani (4 wickets), Shardul Thakur (2 wickets), Tanush Kotian (2 wickets), and Mohit Avasthi (2 wickets), restricted the TN team to only 162 runs.

The commendable bowling attack helped the team achieve an excellent victory by 70 runs and an inning.
Shardul Thakur played extraordinarily with both bat and ball. Coming to bat when Mumbai had lost seven wickets for just 106 runs, he scored 109 in the crucial time. His outstanding performance earned him the well-deserved title of Man of the Match.
