Rs 19.48 Crore Fraud in Madhya Pradesh’s RGPV University

Madhya Pradesh’s RGPV University is facing allegations of fraud of Rs 19.40 crore. As per the source, Rs 19.40 crore is transferred from the university’s account to a private account without authorization.

Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV), also known as the State Technological University of Madhya Pradesh, is a state university situated in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. It was established by the Government of Madhya Pradesh in the year 1998 as a common university for all the technical institutes, mainly engineering and pharmacy colleges in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

What is the Matter?

On February 19, the Technical Education Department received a complaint about money being transferred from Bhopal’s Rajiv Gandhi Technical University to a personal account.

In response to the complaint, the department took it seriously and formed a three-member committee to investigate the matter. The committee then submitted its investigation reports to the department on Saturday.

The investigation report confirms that Rs 19.48 crore from the university account was transferred to a personal account without authorization.

After the matter came to light, Dr. RS Rajput, Registrar of RGPV University, has been suspended from his post, It is also said that separate action will be taken against retired Finance Controller HK Verma.

Students from Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) are staging protests against the fraud, demanding a proper investigation into the matter. Madhya Pradesh’s Education Minister, Inder Singh Parmar, has addressed the concerns of protestors and assured the students that a fair investigation will be conducted, and if Chancellor Sunil Kumar is found guilty, appropriate action will be taken against him as well.

Latest update on the matter:

An FIR was filed against five, including RGPV’s Vice Chancellor Sunil Kumar, former Registrar R.S. Rajput, and a bank officer, in alleged fraud after CM Mohan Yadav instructed to file an FIR, remove officers that were posted in that department, and conduct an investigation by a high-level committee into the matter.
