Former Vice Chancellor of RGPV Sunil Kumar Arrested in Rs 19.48 Crore Scam Case

On Thursday morning, the police arrested the former Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi Technological University (RGPV), Prof. Sunil Kumar, in connection with a whopping Rs 19.48 crore scam. This is a significant breakthrough in the investigation.

Details of Arrest:

After dodging the authorities for a while, Sunil Kumar was finally arrested in Raipur. He’s been on the run since March 3, when the case was filed. But he’s not the only one.

Prior to Sunil Kumar’s arrest, several other individuals implicated in the case had been apprehended. These include Kumar Mayank, a former manager of RBL Bank in Bhopal, and Ramkumar Raghuvanshi, a former manager of Axis Bank in Pipariya. Additionally, Sunil Raghuvanshi, a joint secretary of the Dalit Sangh in Sohagpur, was also arrested. Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend two remaining suspects: RGPV’s former registrar, RS Rajput, and retired finance controller, Hrishikesh Verma.

Anticipatory Bail Rejected:

Sunil Kumar tried to get bail on April 1, but the court said “no” on April 3. Same story for RS Rajput, the former registrar of RGPV, whose bail plea was rejected earlier on March 12.

Progress of the Investigation:

Out of the six people involved, the police have caught four so far. Special Investigation Teams (SITs) are diligently probing the case from multiple angles, with lookout circular notices issued to prevent any attempts to flee the country.
